The firm expects to add 5 million subscribers globally in the second quarter, down 8 percent year-over-year and less than the 5.5 million subscribers analysts expect.
More than 80 percent of new Netflix customers already hail from overseas, and the company has invested billions of dollars to produce original series across Europe, Latin America and Asia.
The company said that after launching in the United States on November 12 at $6.99 per month, Disney+ will gradually expand internationally, starting in Europe.
"There is some concern that real competition is entering the market, but Netflix is still a good proxy for investor risk appetite, especially for technology", said Joel Kulina, Senior Vice President of Institutional Cash Equities at Wedbush Securities.
Netflix's popularity is still booming, even as the video streaming service rolls out it biggest USA price increases and girds for new challenges from Walt Disney and Apple, two of the world's most popular brands. Netflix Revenue also beat expectations with a reported revenue for $4.52 billion.
"We're charging forward. We've expected this decline of second window content, been ready for it, anticipated it, and in fact we're eager to have more and more of our money be able to do spectacular new titles". Hotstar boasts of 300 million monthly active users only in India.

Netflix is also eyeing global growth, namely in India. Though Disney has announced they have original films in the works for Plus, they haven't yet stated they are planning a movie based on The Simpsons.
With the exception of a sizzle reel revealed at the end of the presentation, the company didn't share any footage from the titles that are now filming or have completed filming.

However, Netflix expects that number to slow between April and June. Mobile subscriptions also leads to handset partners and telecom operators preloading and bundling Netflix with subscriptions.
