Said Musgraves: "At 18, I was a lot more redneck than I am now".

Host Alicia Keys closed out her opening monologue with some special guests: Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez, and former First Lady Michelle Obama to talk about the impact music has had in their lives.

Sharon Kanter, Deputy Style Director: Sure, it was almost impossible to see her eyes under that massive wide-brimmed hat when she walked the red carpet, but who cares?! "To me, it's all about the songs", she explained. Music that she's glad people don't remember her during that time. But the singer appeared confused about what she was supposed to say, when Ryan was merely stating a fact rather than asking a question.

"I definitely did not think I was winning anything". That word doesn't seem large enough for what Gaga has always brought to her performances and to her overall aesthetic.

Musgraves isn't known by too many people outside the country music industry.

Prior to her six nominations at the 2019 Grammy Awards, Carlile had earned just one previous Grammy nod.

Lafayette native Lauren Daigle won two different awards for contemporary Christian music.

Kacey Musgraves won the night's top honor, Album of the Year - her fourth trophy of the evening - for Golden Hour (which also won Country Album of Year).

If you wanted soul, you got it, with the legendary Diana Ross celebrating her 75 birthday. Today, she's worth an estimated $10 million.

Childish Gambino, the stage name of actor Donald Glover, and another prominent rap nominee, Kendrick Lamar, both declined invitations to perform or attend Sunday's show. Thank you, I wish Bradley was here with me right now.Bradley, I loved singing this song with you.
