The final season will have only six episodes, making it the shortest season.

The announcement of Thrones' premiere date comes just one week after fans were gifted with the first footage of season eight.

All shall be revealed when Game of Thrones is released April 14.

HBO chose to tease that the announcement was coming in advance, then drop it on air prior to the third-season premiere of its crime drama "True Detective".

The official Game of Thrones S8 teaser trailer is finally here.

The major source of excitement for fans will be seeing Jon and Arya reunited. The latter two had a terse - but ultimately satisfying - reunion in season 7, but Arya and Jon haven't seen each other since the second episode of the whole show. The teaser ends as Jon, Sansa and Arya draw their blades and prepare themselves for a deadly fight.

The feather was on the floor when Sansa visited the crypts, but she put it back in the statue's hand, right were Robert had left it.

If the rumors of Game of Thrones episodes that have a feature-length film feel are true, then fans are in for quite the awesome final season. With the haunting music from the always-great Ramin Djawadi, and the slightly ominous tone, the teaser goes heavy on symbolism, bringing with its lots of clues for the final six episodes. Appropriately, it was Sansa (Sophie Turner) who walked by her statue as her mother's specter spoke these words.

The eighth and final season will premiere on April 15. It's the last season so she doesn't have much time to prove she's was worth not killing off for seven whole seasons...
