Storm warning in effect until Wednesday; heavy snow expected

- Chicagoans hoping for a white Christmas will be disappointed to find cloudy skies and no snowfall in the city this morning. You won't have any complaints about your Christmas Day weather across central Alabama, although clouds are already on the increase across the area.

By Wednesday afternoon, a weak shortwave sweeping through northwestern Nevada will bring a slight chance for some snow showers over the southern Cascades into the Sierra. Thursday will bring the most widespread rain to the area. There is a chance for a rain, possibly a bit of snow mixing in for Christmas Eve night.

Meanwhile, along the Front Range, snow will be possible Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Expect sunshine and cooler temperatures.

By Wednesday, conditions are looking really good for traveling.
