Apart from being the first female-led superhero movie, Captain Marvel also assumes importance due to Avengers 4, the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War, which will release a couple of months after the Brie Larson movie.
While every Marvel fan is eagerly waiting for the Avengers 4 trailer, tonight's Monday Night Football game gave us a new look at Captain Marvel. There have been some brief instances of brainwashing and some typical comic book flavored stakes involving memory loss and time travel, but nothing that would really necessitate her origin involve her not remembering Earth.
The second poster for the film has also been released, featuring the actress looking epic in her aforementioned suit. "Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth".
The film is set in the 1990s and follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the most powerful superheroes. The Kree claim to have "found" Carol and remade her into a Kree Warrior.
Captain Marvel is set to hit cinemas on March 8th.
We don't get much of Jude Law's Mar-Vell in the trailer, but he does seem to be a mentor and adviser of sorts to Carol on Hala. "So you could live longer, stronger... superior". While there aren't any additional details on the film yet, fans will be able to admire Captain Marvel in paper form until the premiere date.
There are also scenes where Danvers gets a peek at her file, with photos of her past life as a pilot, telling Fury that she, 'had a life here'.
"Captain Marvel" is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script by "Inside Out" scribe Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.
