Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been charged after he raced on to the pitch to celebrate his side's Merseyside derby victor on Sunday.

The Reds boss ran on to the pitch in wild celebration of Divock Origi's 96th-minute victor at Anfield, hugging goalkeeper Allison, and it sparked both adulation and derision in equal measure.

The Liverpool boss did apologise in post-match comments and also mentioned that he said sorry to Everton boss Marco Silva.

The German insisted afterwards that he said sorry to Silva for a moment of disrespect but the Portuguese denied having received any apology for what he assumes was a reaction an unexpected result.

He then apologised to Everton after the game for his celebration. They are just an outstanding side and it was a hard game today.

"I told him but, you know, it's a special feeling to win the derby in the last minute". "Everybody probably thought we'd settled for the draw but we've shown this season that we dig deep many a time and come up with the goods late on".

"We've got the Champions League game which will determine our future in the competition and in the Premier League it's an opportunity to stay at the top and open up a gap on the teams behind us".

"The game was what we expected".

Origi admits his added-time victor was one of the most crucial he has scored for the club. The midfielder went down injured during injury time and the extra time added on helped the Reds' cause. But if you can't get delirious about a 96th minute in the derby then football is dead.

Victory made it a new record of 16 Merseyside derbies unbeaten, with Everton having failed to win at Anfield since 1999. But we got it and we will take it.

Everton's other great first half chance owed more to spirited defending than poor finishing as Theo Walcott headed across goal and Andre Gomes looked certain to nod into the Liverpool net from close range. We are devastated for ourselves and the fans.

"We have proved we are capable of matching any team on our day". Maybe there will be mistakes and the next week we can solve those mistakes. "We have another game on Wednesday so need to get over this and make sure we are ready to get the win".
