Patriots pull out win on strange night

Tom Brady had nothing but praise for Gordon when speaking on Saturday, a day before the team departed for Buffalo.

So while the Bills signed Pryor as a wide receiver, it's not inconceivable that he could play some sort of emergency quarterback role.

Brady made fun of himself for the failed block in an Instagram video on Tuesday morning, where he started out talking about the big win and looking ahead to their matchup next week against the Green Bay Packers.

Trading McCoy might not drastically change the Bills' offense in the second half of the season.

It was a tough loss for fans to watch and a tough game for players to be a part of.

With a Patriots offense that has been scoring around 38 points a game for the past several weeks, the Bills offense may be forced to throw more than they'd like and get away from their running game.

The coverage on the backend by the Buffalo defense was superb for most of the night as Brady's receivers struggled to create separation, especially beyond 20 yards downfield where Brady completed only two passes.

Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy had two sacks on the night, while teammate Adrian Clayborn added one.

The Bills last won a Monday night game at home on September 26, 1994, when Thurman Thomas ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns as they defeated the John Elway-quarterbacked Denver Broncos, 27-20, at what was then known at Rich Stadium.

Buffalo actually moved the ball much better Monday night, notching 333 total yards - a sizeable improvement from their 31 ranked National Football League average of 234 yards per game. He continued to play regularly throughout the second quarter.

The Patriots beat Buffalo for the seventh straight time and improved to 32-5 in their last 37 meetings under coach Bill Belichick. Of course all of this is easier when Derek Anderson is under center for the Bills, but a win is a win.

They lack experienced depth at receiver behind starter Kelvin Benjamin.

Anderson finished 22 of 39 for 290 yards and two interceptions.

"I've had bad games, but this?"

Stephon Gilmore kept up his good play as well. After sub-par outings in its previous two games, the defense allowed a season-low 207 total yards and 12 first downs while forcing three-and-outs on six of the Jets' first eight possessions.

Now, if the defensive player had crossed the plane and fumbled, then Buffalo recovered the football back inside the end zone, it would by rule be a safety, and New England would have been awarded a single point. After that, they gained a total of 30 yards for the entire football game.
