The Patriots and Chiefs combined for 83 points. He instead turned the game into a classic duel in his first showdown with New England's Tom Brady.

New England (4-2) led 24-9 at intermission, but Mahomes directed an impressive rally for Kansas City.

After Kansas City Chiefs speedster Tyreek Hill stung the New England Patriots with his third touchdown reception Sunday, he ran through the end zone to the stands at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Tremon Smith took the ensuing kickoff 97 yards down the sideline to the Patriots 3, setting up Hill's go-ahead TD.

" ... He's doing a great job". Tailback Kareem Hunt also had a big night in the passing game for Kansas City, hauling in five catches for 105 yards - including a 67-yard pass that ignited the Chiefs' rally in the third quarter.

The excitement did get a bit of cold water thrown on it as Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hit Tyreek Hill for a 75-yard touchdown not long after.

Gronkowski was dominant Sunday night. The Patriots kicked a walk-off field goal to win 43-40.

Hill brushed off the incident after the game, telling reporters coach Andy Reid "told me, 'Don't get emotional".

The obvious problem for the Chiefs in this game was the defense.

"The formation was for him to be in a stance", Brady said.

Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus released a statement, calling the fan's behavior unacceptable. It is one thing to see his speed on film - another to witness it on the field.

Cornerback Stephone Gilmore on his impressions of Mahomes: "He's a great quarterback". Year-after-year, Brady has games like this. It is unfortunate that the team that ended up with the ball won.

On a Sunday that saw Fox's afternoon game up 18% in the metered markets over 2017 and National Football League ratings holding steady overall with the controversy weighed down season of past year, last night's SNF was obviously a season high so far for the NBC broadcast.

Players acknowledged afterwards that this game was fun - nearly like sandlot football. "He's just done a really good job for us and last night, as many points as there were in that game, you don't really think of three points as being that big but they really were, as you pointed out". And by Brady's standards, pretty basic, too.

Maybe we'll get a rematch of these two teams in the AFC Championship Game. "Those plays are when we want to run down, tackle and make a play but Hill is a tough guy to run down". We were making plays. "We can take this loss".

Added Michel, "That is why I play football because it is fun".
