All in all, the small changes to the OnePlus 6T have the potential to create meaningful added value over its predecessor. This helps increase the overall screen-to-body ratio of the device. The optical scanner, which sits towards the bottom of the handset's 6.4in FHD+ AMOLED scanner, lets users unlock the 6T by pressing their digits on the screen. This is the same technology utilized in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
The foray by 5-year-old Shenzhen-based OnePlus comes after USA mobile carriers AT&T and Verizon this year backed away from plans to work with China's Huawei on high-end phones in face of pressure from the United States government, which considers Huawei a security risk.
Like the OnePlus 6, the 6T features Qualcomm's current flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 845, and up to 8GB of RAM. He's owned dozens of Android devices and can rarely settle on a daily driver for more than a few months. Memory expansion is not available.
Some say the OnePlus 6T (the 8GB RAM version) is already a steal at $579.
Following its unveiling, the OnePlus 6T became available to pre-order right away.
To make it even more impressive and more appealing, the OnePlus 6T will also include a biometric fingerprint sensor embedded in the display which replaces the older sensor on the back of the hardware and which will work alongside the facial unlock system. This has been addressed with NightScape, a form of processing that may get more light and detail into the images. The studio light feature accentuates the colors and brightness levels whenever a human face is detected in the portrait mode. The dual rear camera setup, including a 16MP primary Sony IMX 519 sensor and an f/1.7 aperture and a 20MP secondary Sony IMX 376K sensor with the same aperture, is accompanied by a dual-LED flash.
OnePlus phones are known for their rapid charging capabilities, and the OnePlus 6T is no exception.
The smartphone is also backed with a bigger capacity battery of 3700 mAh battery.
No sign yet of the lovely white variant that OnePlus used for the 6. This feature will also make its way to the OnePlus 6 with a software update. The high-end 256GB variant will retail for $629.
Last week, OnePlus first confirmed that it'd launch a 5G device next year, prompting speculation that the OnePlus 7 might be the first smartphone from the company to support the next-gen wireless communication standard.
On October 29th at 05:00 PM ET, the OnePlus 6T will go on sale in T-Mobile's signature store in New York City's Times Square. Having said that, it's hard to justify or recommend a full-price purchase from T-Mobile given the restrictions, unless customers choose to trade in their old smartphone with the carrier and acquire the newest OnePlus flagship at a discounted price of $279.
This is a developing news story.
