Liverpool, the runner-up last season, was the toughest third-seeded team and landed with Paris Saint-Germain, Napoli, and Red Star Belgrade. Ronaldo was named the best forward, but that wasn't enough for him...

Manchester United have been drawn against Juventus, Ronaldo's new club, in the Champions League group stage.

"It's the first time this has happened to me in my life".

United travel to Turin for the reverse fixture on Wednesday, November 7 before facing Young Boys at Old Trafford on Tuesday, November 27.

Jose Mourinho's side are in a potentially testing group, with La Liga heavyweights Valencia and Swiss outfit Young Boys completing the group apart from the Italian champions.

Mourinho believes all three opponents in Group H have the capabilities to cause United problems.

"We can not hide the fact that we are among the favourites this year", Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta said.

On Tottenham, Valverde praised the physical and technical strength of the Premier League side: "They're one of the most complicated teams we could've be drawn against". It was a bonus for us to learn and get those kinds of experiences.

"We want to defend our title for one more year", Emilio Butragueno, Real's Director of Institutional Relations, told Spanish television.

Luka Modric and Pernille Harder were voted UEFA Players of the Year.

"Apart from Barcelona, Inter might suffer against Tottenham". They, however, are not expected to make an impact in Group C as the three heavyweights will seek to avoid an embarrassing first-round elimination.

They will face group-stage debutants Hoffenheim as well as Lyon and Shakhtar Donetsk, coming up against the latter for the second year running.

They again came third in the 2013-2014 season in a group that pitted them against Bayern Munich, Manchester City and CSKA Moscow.

Matchday 1: Club Brugge vs. Dortmund and Monaco vs. Atletico Madrid.

However, despite the Portuguese's heroics as Real won the competition last season - he scored 15 goals in 13 games - Modric, the midfield metronome at the centre of Real's triumph, claimed the coveted award.
