Although it wasn't quite the "internet breaking" experience most fans were hoping for, hype levels were heightened for one of the MCU's most anticipated Phase Three films, Captain Marvel, earlier today with Entertainment Weekly's first look magazine cover boasting the fully-suited, titular hero herself (played by Brie Larson) on the cover.

Marvel Studios has revealed the first look at Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson as the titular character. A photo leaked months ago of a green and black costume. The character's iconic red and blue ensemble, complete with gold trimming and gold star on the chest, is present and shows that Marvel has opted to keep Captain Marvel's attire as it's depicted in the comics.

The last scene of Avengers Infinity War had Nick Fury contacting Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel began filming in March in Los Angeles, California.

"Captain Marvel marks Samuel L. Jackson's ninth appearance as Nick Fury, but this Nick is a lowly S.H.I.E.L.D. desk jockey (who hasn't yet met any superheroes)". What we didn't know is that Korath, pretty much a baddie by the time we meet him in the first Guardians movie, would be teaming up with Carol Danvers as part of her Starforce. It's 2018 and we've already seen endless superhero origin stories (with Venom being criticized in some corners for retreading overly familiar narrative ground), so I'm sure we can pick up Danvers' past as we go. She'll end up back on Earth, however, to take on the shapeshifting Skrulls, led by Ben Mendelsohn's Talos. She will eventually return to earth to to take on the Skrulls as they wage a galactic war with the Kree. It's directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

The shoot for Captain Marvel wrapped up in July as Brie Larson had then shared a post hinting the same on Twitter.

Captain Marvel follows an Air Force pilot named Carol Danvers who has turned space cop in an elite unit called Starforce on the Kree planet of Hala. That Rambeau was originally introduced as Captain Marvel in the comics, but she's since become heroes like Pulsar, Spectrum, and - her callsign in Captain Marvel - Photon.

The film will be Marvel Studios' first female-led superhero since they launched their studio back in 2008.

We can also add that apparently SHIELD doesn't have a great track record of being a secure organization as Captain America: The Winter Soldier saw it revealed HYDRA had also infiltrated the secret organization; I wonder if HYDRA will somehow factor into Captain Marvel?
