Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) maintained his flawless record as he continuously controlled Easter (21-1, 14 KOs) with his jab throughout the night.

Garcia, who now has his eye on going up to welterweight later this year to challenge world titleholder Errol Spence Jr., won going away on the scorecards 118-109, 117-110 and 116-111 in a fight in which he knocked Easter down in the third round.

WBC undefeated lightweight champion Mikey Garcia squares off against IBF title holder Robert Easter, a title unification fight on Saturday. Garcia weighed on the division limit at 135 pounds, and Easter weighed 134.5 pounds for the fight that will headline the Showtime-televised tripleheader on Saturday (10 p.m. ET). This will probably be the first fight that he's ever had where he's going to be the underdog, and I think that's what's going to motivate him even more. There are many reasons this fight makes sense and given the history, it would likely be the easiest to make. That's what I'm here to do. "There's no other fighter on the planet that's doing what I'm doing". "I've told Mikey about the experiences, where making weight was not drinking water two to three weeks before the fight".

Easter, a Toledo, Ohio, native, comes in with a flawless 21-0 record at age 27, but with only 14 knockouts.

Mikey Garcia vs. Robert Easter Jr. Many feel as though Garcia would be biting off more than he can chew by seeking that fight, but he said in the ring that's the fight he wants. That was other kids' dreams. Considering he hung around his brothers and toyed around with the idea, it wasn't a big deal to lace up the gloves as a last-minute opponent, but his first taste of competition hooked him. But he can only laugh asked whether the decision was made because of how hard his junior welterweight title bout with Lipinets became.

"I'm going to do what I've always done in my career and even in the amateurs, and that's just fight", said Ortiz, who is aiming for a rematch of his fight of the year contender with Wilder.

"My cousin's son is battling leukemia, so I dedicate this fight to him", Roman said. A fight between Campbell and Easter, JR., intriguing though I don't know of the possibility of it being made unless Easter, JR., is willing to travel across the pond to make a statement. "I just couldn't find the timing and I just couldn't let my right hand go". Prior to getting stopped by Lomachenko, which isn't to be scoffed at given that he's the #1 fighter the world, many would have saw Linares Vs Garcia as a 12 round fight with someone winning a decision. Jabs were fired like pistons but most of the taller fighter's flashy blows touched only air or the gloves. He connected on almost 40 percent of his power shots while Easter landed at a 24 percent clip. "I'm more experienced. I'm a hungrier fighter".

Easter's long odds stem largely from his past two title defenses, which drew increasing criticism, although he won both.

Mikey Garcia has big plans to prove he's not just one of the best boxers of his era, but one of the best of all time. He's a little awkward and a little different.

Such a monumental fight may come at the end of the year, as early as this November.

"He caught me with a clean shot and I went down, but I got up like a true champion", Easter said. Gacia says that throughout the contract dispute, fan support pushed him to get back into the ring.

"The difference was this was Robert's first really big fight", Cunningham said.

Commey will be back in action when he takes on Yardley Cruz on August, 4, 2018. I was knocking people out fight after fight. "I faced two tough southpaws recently but on July 28 I'm going to show everyone what they've been sleeping on and why I'm a world champion". But at five-feet, 11 inches and a 76-inch reach, Easter has advantages of five and 10 inches over Garcia, respectively, per BoxRec, and could pose problems for the hometown fighter. During one of those exchanges Garcia connected with right hands and a left hook to the chin of Easter and down he went to the canvas.

Easter with active with his jab in the fourth round. While Easter being much busier in the round, Garcia was economical yet landed the majority of what he threw. In that regard, Garcia's jab will be key to setting up his big shots.
