Premier League clubs were scrambling to complete deals before the end of the transfer window on Thursday, with teams including Fulham and Everton among the most active.

Figures released by Deloitte show clubs paid out an estimated 1.23 billion pounds before the window closed - down 2 hundred million pounds on the same period previous year.

One of the clubs to vote against the implementation of this year's earlier transfer deadline in England, any outgoings will be because the club want to sell.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust expressed grave concerns over the lack of new recruitment even though the club did manage to hold on to their existing crop of elite players, not least England striker Harry Kane.

"It's hard to understand for people that Tottenham didn't sign or sell a player, but sometimes in football you need to behave differently and we're happy with our squad", he said.

Bridge said: "If you look at the top 10 individual players, you've got three players over £60m, reportedly, and another six over £30m so the value of the players appears to be steadily nudging up each year".

Mina scored three times in three games at the World Cup in Russian Federation, including against Everton's England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with a dramatic stoppage time header to send their last 16 tie to extra-time.

"Raheem and Kevin had three weeks off after the World Cup, which is not too much time (for pre-season) but they both arrived in the ideal way".

The highest-profile deal at that stage was midfielder Mateo Kovacic joining Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid - with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois going the other way permanently.

Last season's top-two teams spent nothing yesterday.

Initially Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva were the tipped partnership in the centre of midfield, however a prolonged rest for both players means the Portugal global should enter the fray for the Sky Blues' season opener. Champions Manchester City had already signed winger Riyad Mahrez for a club-record 60 million pounds from Leicester. Manchester United signed midfielder Fred, defender Diogo Dalot and goalkeeper Lee Grant last month, but manager Jose Mourinho was left frustrated in his efforts to further strengthen.

"The players from a year ago are responsible for the excitement, and then we brought in a few new players as an icing on the cake", Klopp said during the club's promising preseason tour in the United States.

Barcelona defender Yerry Mina joined Everton as prohibitive agent demands put off United and no offer is understood to have been tabled for Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld.

The said transfer window ended last night and the Premier League squads for the 2018-19 season are locked.

Ayew, who has 11 goals in 49 appearances for Ghana, scored 11 times for Swansea last season as he impressed in a struggling side.
