Ahead of Manchester United's Premier League game against Leicester City, José Mourinho is pessimistic about United's chances.

Liverpool have invested heavily over the summer as they look to pose a challenge to last season's runaway champions, Manchester City, but the same can't be said for United.

Mourinho has rounded on the club's hierarchy for failing to sufficiently strengthen in his opinion despite the signings of Brazilian global midfielder Fred and Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot.

Firstly, Maguire proved that he is slightly more unsafe in the opposition's box, scoring two goals and assisting four times compared to Alderweireld's one goal and zero assists.

"I think it's so hard now because it's only four hours until the end and I don't have news now", Pochettino told a news conference.

"I would go for Alderweireld, all day long because he is suited to the way United play".

Pushed on whether there would be any ins or outs on Thursday, Mourinho added: "The information I have is no (nothing will happen)".

Mauricio Pochettino claiming it is "advantage Newcastle", what with us having nobody in the later stages of this summer's competition.

But Mourinho insists great attention is paid to finding potential clubs and hopes this season proves fruitful for those players send out on loan.

According to reports, Tottenham have agreed to sell their Belgian starlet Toby Alderweild to Manchester United.

"The players with a proper pre-season are fit and they are strong".

United are further hamstrung with a host of key players including Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford involved in the later stages of the World Cup limiting their pre-season preparations.

"They returned on Monday". [It's about] if you really need [them] or not and then if you can get your target or not.

"In pre-season it looked like I was saying something absolutely out of order, it looked like I was saying something insane", he added. I just don't know, if I was an owner, I'm thinking, 'Well you've had a lot of money on these players, you don't fancy them. This summer we finish the lodge at the training ground.

"Is hard for me to understand, to feel, to believe we finish second - which I keep saying, and it is sometimes hard to believe, that I won eight championships and three Premier League's but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game".

Scholes added that "I wouldn't be happy either" playing Mourinho's pragmatic brand of football, in comments that threaten to reignite his feud with the Portuguese manager.
