Guardiola, who successfully retained league titles at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, highlighted the virtues of City's rivals including Jose Mourinho's Manchester United ahead of this afternoon's title defence opener at Arsenal.

"That's OK. But maybe this season finally you demand they win".

Emery insists that it is a case of taking it one game at a time, though, and Arsenal should hold their own on the opening matchday in front of their home supporters.

There couldn't have been a harder introduction to the English Premier League [EPL] for Unai Emery than against Pep Guardiola's all-conquering Manchester City.

Britain's TelegraPhnewspaper has reported that new Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has named five Arsenal captains with Petr Cech expected to lead side against Manchester City tomorrow.
