The bad news is that North America will not be able to see it.
The partial eclipse, taking place before and after the total eclipse, is set to kick on for 3 hours and 55 minutes, with the entire event lasting a whopping 5 hours and 38 minutes. People within the scientific community also refer to the Blood Moon prophecy as a myth.
The moon will have a red tinge to it, making it a picture-worthy moment across the globe.
When this happens, it causes the Earth's shadow to block the sun.
A blood moon appears whenever a full moon looks bigger and brighter than usual.
Otago Museum's Griffin will be part of joint project between the museum and Canterbury University at Mt John Observatory, Lake Tekapo to take photographs of Mars in the last week of July and post them on the internet.
"The blood moon is the result of a total lunar eclipse, which is when the moon passes directly behind earth and into its shadow".
What is a Blood Moon? This means that the moon will smaller and more distant than it does on any other day of the year. In fact, when the moon remains in the shadow of the earth during the full moon's lunar eclipse, its aura becomes redundant, which is called the "Ratakim Chandra" or "Lal Chand".
You are safe to travel on anywhere on the earth surface on Lunar Ecplise and not on the Solar Ecplise with the close approach.
When will the eclipse occur? This will be the fourth of five eclipses this year and the second of the lunar variety.
The total eclipse will begin at 7:30 p.m. UTC, and end at 9:13 p.m. UTC. If you're in Vancouver, then you'll see a full Strawberry Moon appear tonight.
Given favorable weather conditions, the July 27 blood moon will be visible throughout most of the eastern hemisphere including the totality phase in Africa, the Middle East and much of central Asia. Meanwhile, only parts of South America will get to witness the final stages of the eclipse, and North America, the Arctic, and numerous fish in the Pacific Ocean won't get to see it at all.
Since the monsoon has arrived in India, the eclipse will only be visible if it isn't too cloudy.
