Singapore, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Democratic People " s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong-un, arrived in this capital for the talks he will hold in two days with the US President, Donald Trump.
Trump will also meet with U.S. Embassy personnel later Monday.
"We have to get denuclearization".
"If Trump can't negotiate a deal on milk with one of our closest allies, how is he going to get a deal on nuclear disarmament with one of our greatest foes?" tweeted Michael McFaul, ambassador to Russian Federation during the Barack Obama presidency.
There is also the question of what will become of North Korea's short and medium-range ballistic missiles, which has been a great concern for North Korea's neighbours, including Japan. "But we appreciate your hospitality and professionalism and your friendship".
North Korea announced it had achieved that capability late a year ago. On Sunday, as the global media swarmed Singapore and Kim arrived on a special Air China flight, just hours before Trump, there was still no word. The only logical explanation for Rodman's visit to Singapore would have to do with the fact that he has been closely associated with Jong Un and Trump in the past.
"Based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!"
Trump responded to such commentary on Twitter, saying: "The fact that I am having a meeting is a major loss for the US, say the haters & losers".
A day after arguing with western allies at the G-7 summit over trade, President Trump landed in Asia on Sunday prepared to declare victory in talks with a long-time adversary, nuclear-armed North Korea.
On the other side, for Kim sharing a common platform with the USA president is itself a landmark as previously the United States leaders have avoided doing so.
Mr Kim arrived in Singapore on a loaned Chinese jet
As far as we know, his despot father only traveled out of the country by train, and rarely at that, because of fears of assassination.
"They have to denuke. If they don't denuclearise, that will not be acceptable".
"Sorry, we can not let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on Trade anymore".
Has North Korea's ruler, Kim Jong-un, made a strategic decision to trade away his nuclear program, or is he just engaged in another round of deceptive diplomacy, pretending that he will denuclearize in exchange for material benefits for his impoverished country?
"The minimum would be relationship".
While this meeting with Mr Kim may be just the start of what might be a long and fraught journey, it is at least that - a start. Because, you know, as a deal person, I've done very well with deals.
But Cathcart said that progress on economic liberalisation would likely be slow because North Korea will want to be careful about the increased political risks that could come from relaxing restrictions on the currency and migration. We will have seen each other.
That part of the summit could be crucial.
Lee also hosted a working lunch for Trump and his delegation. The reconciliatory mood between the two countries shifted dramatically after President George W. Bush took office in January 2001 with a tough policy on the North. Clinton eventually went to North Korea as a former president in 2009 to secure the freedom of two detained American journalists held there.
Meanwhile, diplomats from the United States and North Korea huddled at a Ritz Carlton hotel in Singapore to hash out agenda items for the highly anticipated meeting, the White House said.
