The trailer in question is packed with high-flying action. The movie explores the adventures of a younger Han Solo and Chewbacca and also includes their encounter with Lando Carlrissian. In his space journey, Solo is accompanied by Lando, Chewie, Qi'ra and the mysterious Val (Thandie Newton). It should go without saying, but we'll say it anyway- if you don't want to be spoiled in any way for the film, don't watch the trailer, and stop reading this article. The film's also following on from Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which, despite a very healthy $US1.3 billion box office return, was still met with polarising opinions from the fans.
What I like about the trailer is that it's showing us that Solo is going to be a much grittier film.
The two-minute long trailer also shows the youthful Han embarking on his first trip to the new Millennium Falcon undertaking a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and unsafe criminal underworld.
I am also enjoying the rogue's gallery of characters with whom Han Solo will be doing business. Following Phil Lord and Chris Miller's departure, due to creative differences, the two were subsequently replaced by Ron Howard. You can have a look at the poster below.
Five weeks away from its cinema debut, a new extended trailer for Solo has dropped - and for fans of the Star Wars movies, it's a total delight. Making a huge change like this with the movie releasing shortly after isn't the wisest decision. It's got a definite retro vibe with an earth-toned, Western-movie-style image, featuring beautifully-painted takes on the main characters and a world from the film. Yes, we don't know how he became who he is, but do we really need too?
