Nebraska to play Mississippi State in the NIT tournament

It's March and the Washington Huskies are going to a postseason tournament for the first time in years.

Nebraska is not in the field of 68 for the 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Jamie Dixon led the Horned Frogs to the NIT title last season, and then built on that success and earned a six seed in this year's NCAA tournament.

The first three rounds of the NIT are played on campus sites, with the better-seeded team as the host.

Wojo said the team's growth mindset entering the NIT this week will not modify the team's rotations, especially since there is only one senior on the team.

"I really do feel like we got slapped in the face", Miles said Sunday night.

At the University of Pittsburgh, Howland set the school record for wins in a season and guided the Panthers to back-to-back Sweet 16s.

BYU's WCC mate, Saint Mary's, did not receive an NCAA at-large bid and was also sent to the NIT.

The Huskies and Boise State have faced off nine times, with UW having an 8-1 advantage. Nebraska won 76-72, but MSU played without center Abdul Ado.

Nebraska finished 1-6 against Quadrant 1 opponents and 2-3 against Quadrant 2 foes. No. 3 OR is on the left side of the bracket, which includes several East Coast teams.

"I think we had some unfinished business", Ionecu said after the Ducks' ninth consecutive win since the loss to the Cardinal on February 4 at Matthew Knight Arena.

"We're excited to be in the postseason. So, we'll look forward to playing in the NIT and preparing for Mississippi State".

Hours after losing a heartbreaker to Penn in the Ivy League championship, Harvard was selected as an NIT automatic qualifier. They are a No. 4 seed and will host an opening round contest. The 3-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for worldwide competition (22 feet 1.75 inches).
