For a week, Google Map users will have the option to replace the standard blue chevron that guides them on their journey with Mario on a go-kart instead. Apparently the (now again) Plumber is taking his Kart and conquering the world. or at least Google Maps.

Google Maps just launched a pretty nifty feature today to it's mobile apps that involves everyone's favourite plumber. Whatever the motivation behind Mario Day, it's something that Google is looking to celebrate with a fun little addition to Google Maps.

"OK Google (Hey Siri), have Mario take me somewhere to get burgers". For the in-app purchase, the new lower pricing is starting on March 10.

He said: "Once enabled, you'll see that the navigation arrow has morphed into-who else?-Mario".

Although the day of celebration is tomorrow, Google has rolled out the update a day early. To celebrate, Nintendo has a number of deals lined up including one we told you about the other day. You'll need to update your app from either the Google Play or the App Store.

Today is March 10, which if you write as MAR10, kind of looks like Mario. "Once the update is done, then users can see a yellow color "?" icon at the bottom-right corner of the application.

After the feature released, users have been sharing screenshots of their routes on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #MarioMaps.

Make sure you're driving safe while using driving directions, but if you ever wanted a reason to use Google Maps' navigation more, now seems ideal.
