The fact is, McDaniels proved once again that he's a bad leader and has no business being a head coach as he cared little about the people he burned while he continued to worry about No. 1 and only No. 1.

It goes without saying that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has found himself as a highly divisive figure around the National Football League world after spurning the Indianapolis Colts.

Belichick gave no indication after the Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia on Sunday night that he plans to exit in 2018. Belichick has said it is "absolutely" his intention to be back next season.

Josh McDaniels had an unsuccessful stint with the Broncos as head coach.

At 41, he's considered one of the NFL's brightest young minds.

While keeping McDaniels around to be the likely successor of Belichick was probably a main reason for the Krafts final play, keeping Tom Brady happy may also have been a factor as well.

"Belichick told McDaniels that he would spend more time with him on the inner workings of the Patriots, including roster construction and salary-cap management, which was viewed as "extremely valuable" to McDaniels", Reiss reports.

McDaniels back-stabbed so many people from Colts ownership to general manager Chris Ballard, who effectively ended his coaching search once he had an understanding with McDaniels, to the assistant coaches eschewing other opportunities to be on his staff to a fanbase ready to entrust him with the wayward franchise. Saban shot up the ranks from there, joining the Patriots in 2001 and climbing from personnel assistant to defensive assistant to quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator by 2006. However, ESPN said the Patriots front office did not make any promises to McDaniels.

"There's other guys that we wanted to interview, but because of the playoffs, we weren't able to do it", Ballard said.

"I don't know if with a shoulder you can accurately ever assess where you're at, " he replied.

LaMonte didn't return a message seeking comment.

Ballard's looking for a head coach with those same competitive fires burning inside.

Nebraska spring game is sellout • Nebraska's spring football game on April 21 at 85,000-seat Memorial Stadium - the first under new coach Scott Frost - sold out one day after tickets went on sale. After losing Matt Patricia and Super Bowl LII last weekend, it was important for the Patriots to keep some semblance of normality in their organization.

Flores has been with the Patriots in scouting and coaching capacities since 2004. He can't and shouldn't work anywhere but New England for the foreseeable future.

McDaniels had never publicly acknowledged his pre-Super Bowl agreement with the Colts. He said it was the biggest takeaway from his failed experience in Denver. "There's no doubt about that".

"It's the mentally tough, gritty people that overcome these things that are successful". And it's unclear where the Colts might turn next. But Brady publicly apologized to McDaniels after video of their verbal skirmish went viral. "And Josh is someone that really thinks through everything and is very analytical".
