The new XPS 13 uses Intel's eighth-generation Core processors and is highly portable, measuring just 0.46 of an inch thick and weighing 2.67 pounds. Dell is selling the laptop in two finishes - rose gold with Alpine white finish or silver with black interior.

The keyboard is surrounded by woven glass fibre this time around, a first in any laptop. The laptop's webcam has been moved from the incredibly awkward spot on the lower left side of the bezel to the slightly less awkward spot in the middle of the lower bezel.

They should hopefully see a Middle East launch (and prices) later this year. The new laptop will be available today.

It's hard not to be impressed with the sort of headway Dell has made with its Ultrabook-class computer, the XPS 13. Granted, we're a few years into the USB Type C and Thunderbolt 3 thing, and some time has passed since Apple introduced a Thunderbolt-only laptop, the super-slim MacBook.

The Dell XPS packs a display that guarantees a peak brightness of 400nits.

The new XPS 13 has Dell Cinema built into it, promising "state-of-the-art sound, color, and streaming to elevate your entertainment experience".

"It'll be smaller than the current XPS 13, it'll be thinner than the current XPS 13, it'll be lighter in weight, and unlike a lot of our competitors, who have compromised performance in order to deliver smaller, thinner, lighter products, we're actually going to increase the performance profile of the XPS 13 by as much as 80 percent", Azor told media. Those heading to Las Vegas next week can see the new laptop for themselves at Dell's CES booth in the Venetian.

Talking about the specifications, Dell XPS 13 comes in FHD non-touch or 4K touch display. Dell stated that its benchmark results show XPS 13's operating for approximately 20 hours with a full-HD display, and around 11 hours with a 4k display.

Logging into the system can be undertaken using voice, touch or facial recognition, though an optional fingerprint reader can be configured in, which resides in the Windows Hello power button. Dell claims the battery life on the latter models reaches nearly 20 hours, and it's still a very solid 11 hours if you go with the 4K display (see our review of the previous Dell XPS 13 for further discussion of actual battery longevity versus claimed figures, though).

Dell giveth three USB Type-C ports and a microSD card reader to the 2018 XPS 13, but hath taken away all of the older models' USB Type-A ports and full-size SD card slot. "And moving from style to lifestyle, we invested in sustainable recycled ocean plastics and bamboo packaging so you can purchase with confidence knowing that Dell is doing its part to help the planet".

The main downside here is that the new XPS 13 loses its USB 3.0 ports. An Ubuntu-based edition, aimed at developers will also be on sale from £1,319. All of this can be yours at a starting price of $999 (roughly Rs. 64,100), with the XPS 13 being available in the United States starting January 4.
