Foles quieted some of the critics on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles' defence held firm late in the game as they booked their place in the NFC Championship game after beating last season's Super Bowl finalists the Atlanta Falcons 15-10.
The crowd roared and waved white towels when injured quarterback Carson Wentz went out to midfield for the pregame coin toss.
There's not much more you can ask for out of Foles.
The Philadelphia Eagles are now heading to the NFC Championship Game on January 22nd, 2018.
Ryan was the NFL MVP in 2016, when he threw 38 touchdown passes with only seven interceptions.
And on Saturday, he stood up to the challenge.
"That killed me", Ajayi said of the miscue, adding that "I didn't think I played well". That's what it's always been about. "I can't give you an answer why we didn't succeed down there". But the biggest thing about this it that it's sports, that's part of it. "It's the same thing we had been doing all game". Let's have Lane Johnson describe what we mean by that. You're not going to get a lot of drives to get extended to get points at those moments when we're kicking or punting in those situations. We believe in him. "And, me, I knew [Ryan] was coming my way, so I had to pull him up".
How do the Falcons win? Could we have done better in the run game down there?
"We are pumped", added Matt Muskgill of New Jersey. Two plays later, Ryan's final throw sailed through Jones' hands, and the Eagles were headed to next weekend's NFC championship game at home in Philadelphia.
"That's one of the areas we are dialed in from the beginning of the season to where how we make sure those aren't field goals and they turn into touchdowns", coach Dan Quinn said. At that point, a backup QB is a curse, a disappointment.
Keep in mind that these are two completely different teams but do share one very important commonality: Nick Foles as quarterback. That includes a game-winning 61-yarder against the Giants in Week 3.
He didn't have even the second greatest day in National Football League history. They needed a stop on fourth down from the 2 in the final minute to beat the Falcons 15-10 and advance to the NFC title game for the first time since the 2008 season.
"I felt good all game", Foles said. And they did a great job limiting the high-scoring L.A. offense led by Todd Gurley, who's one of the NFL's best all-around running backs. "We were pretty confident they'd move the pocket on that type of play We recognized the formation as soon as they lined up and were able to take away the first two reads on the sprint out, and he tossed it up into coverage, and we move on".
At times, Foles was fantastic. Foles caught fire in the third quarter, completing 6 of 8 passes for 78 yards. The total has gone under in nine of the Falcons' last 12 games against the Eagles.
Atlanta had one last crack and appeared to be threatening when Ryan found Julio Jones on fourth down and six to keep their last drive alive.
But at least he didn't go bust.
"If you feel disrespected, you just have to go and take your respect because it's not given", Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox said.
