Duron Harmon: Haven't seen any rift between Tom Brady, Bill Belichick

League tampering rules prevent the Giants from directly contacting Belichick about such matters, but these obstacles are easy to get around.

That possibility glowed brightly late last week when an ESPN report suggested a power struggle and dysfunction within the Patriots' hierarchy of Belichick, owner Robert Kraft and quarterback Tom Brady.

You would think the Patriots beat writers would know about this before ESPN since they are with the team daily, all season long, and they have refuted a lot of what was in the article.

"The last time I saw the commissioner was before our game against Oakland in Mexico City", Belichick told WEEI's Dale and Holley. Guerrero texted some of the Patriots players who were clients and specified, he says now, "that I would need to treat them at the TB12 Sports Therapy Center".

Once again this was proven as total b.s. a couple months ago when Jimmy G., at his first 49ers press conference, stated that "Tom helped me in so many ways, I mean, it was a special thing we had - on the field, off the field". "The next time I spoke to Bill about it was the Monday before the trade deadline".

When asked a question about his job security with the Patriots and if he planned on being back next year Belichick said, "Absolutely". I was really taken aback a little bit. I want my focus and energy to be where it needs to be, which is on the biggest game of the year. "I talked to Jonathan, who was okay with it, and I called Bill back and said, 'OK'".

Basically, Kraft chose his friendship with Brady over Belichick's system and winning with Garoppolo for the next decade. It details the reportedly "severe" rift between owner, head coach and franchise quarterback. We've worked together for 18 years.

Well, they have a head coaching vacancy and the obvious connection to Belichick through general manager Bob Quinn. I love my experience. "He's been like a second father to me in so many ways".

Carl Banks, a former Giant who played under Belichick, told Newsday last week that he believes Belichick still "bleeds blue" and that he probably would consider the Giants' opening.

Giants brass was in Foxborough this past weekend interviewing Pats coordinators Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia.

Perhaps, despite his assurances to the contrary, they'll also be faced with considering Belichick at some point.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Mara joined the Giants front office in '88, and the two are so close that Belichick is actually expected to contribute to New York's coaching search. And you think if Bill Belichick wants to quit, they are just going to let him go to the Giants? Does he want to groom another quarterbacking successor to Brady? Also, Wickersham said Kraft forced Belichick to trade backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo after Brady expressed interest in playing into his mid-40s.

For their part, Brady and Belichick have refused to comment on the reports, which is very much the Patriot way. In this particular case, it's nothing more than a fun fantasy for the Giants and their fans.

Skip Bayless said Friday on FS1's "Undisputed" that he wouldn't be surprised if Belichick leaves the Patriots after their current playoff run.
