Big Announcements That Were Made At Nintendo Direct Mini January 2018

January past year was when they dropped its big guns, coming out the gate with a barrage of announcements that supplied the Switch throughout 2017.

In February, a free new update for Super Mario Odyssey will add a new mini game, Luigi's Balloon World, which includes two modes. Then in 2000, Nintendo released a tried and true "MT" game for the N64 console aptly titled "Mario Tennis 64". The Switch is also getting a port of the action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana this summer, which came out on the PlayStation Vita in 2016. This game will be available May 4th. This is due to the fact that it's missing a few key features from the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions, such as the Career/Story Mode. So, get ready to punish some angels and demons with melee attacks and gunplay.

NINTENDO held a surprise announcement this week, revealing a whole host of new content for the Nintendo Switch. Players can also use the Joy-Con controllers to try combat in an all-new way, though the Direct Mini didn't share details on how that mechanic would work. Specifically, the trailer noted that players will need to pay more attention to their opponent's shot selection and positioning in order to beat them. It's coming Spring 2018. This game will release this year. Fire Emblem series brings some of the best strategy games and since long, players have been waiting for a proper console game. In case you are wondering, the Nintendo Wii sold 4 million units in the first ten months of its launch in the U.S.

During this morning's Nintendo Direct, the company announced a Switch port of the cult-classic DS/iOS RPG The World Ends With You. This will bring all of the content including DLC from both the WiiU and Nintendo 3DS version into one package.

A free update is coming to Super Mario Odyssey, aimed at players who have completed the main story. The content packages include missions, maps, characters, and weapons. This game will be releasing this Spring.

Finally, Nintendo is adding some Switch-exclusive features to Donkey Kong. And if you aren't looking for a challenge, you can slow down the gameplay or activate an invincibility mode. In addition to that, there will be a limited new character for the portable platform.

Nintendo hasn't given a firm release date for Aces, but has said it will launch in Spring 2018 exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Artist and Spider change-up Kirby's available move set, along with that there will be a way to mix and match abilities when playing with friends in Kirby's co-op mode. PS4 and Xbox One fans will also be getting the game when it lands on 25 May.
