The Honor 7X: Huawei's mid-range masterpiece

When launched, the Honor v10 is expected to be priced in the neighbourhood of CNY 2,999 (RM 1,875). There were micro stutters on rare occasions, but that's ok, considering it is a mid-range chip powering the behemoth of FHD panel. The smartphone has very narrow bezels, which make it look like a premium flagship smartphone.

The 2160x1080 Full HD resolution keeps things crisp and visuals are reasonably punchy too, for an IPS display at least. The images also show that Honor V10 will house a metallic chassis. But while many companies are taking a dip in the stock Android sea, it seems like Honor is content with a sunbath and a tanned skin.

Under the hood, the Honor 7X has the HiSilicon Kirin 659 chipset, Mali-T830 MP2, 4GB of RAM and three storage options of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. All this will season Android 8 Oreo right out of the box, USB-C port for fast charging (the battery capacity is not mentioned), a proprietary shell EMUI 8 and metal body.

Want the Honor 8 or 6X instead? In fact, even day to day use on the 9i was besotted with the odd lag and stutter.

Honor, the affordable smartphone manufacturer, has just unveiled the latest Honor 7X as a way to help everyone join the new 18:9 display revolution, without breaking the bank. There is a 16MP primary sensor paired with a secondary 2MP sensor whose sole job is to capture depth data for bokeh shots. On the front, it carries an 8MP camera for selfie enthusiasts.

I haven't had a proper chance to test its limits with benchmarks, apps or games just yet - that will have to wait for a full review.

The recently launched Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones also came with the same Kirin 970 processor. These include the wide aperture and portrait modes, which do a fine job of capturing your subject and making them look all glamorous, with some funky background bokeh effects.

It also comes with an 18:9 FullView display and dual rear cameras.

Almost a month ago, Honor confirmed to launch a new smartphone on December 5th in London.

Released in 2016, Honor 6X, offered dual-camera; 3 GB of Ram and 32 or 64 GB of memory storage for a mid-range price.
