Android One offers a "pure" Android experience, optimised for Google software such as Google Assistant. It is priced at 799 Euros (it won't be available in the US), and will come in Ceramic Black, Amazing Silver, and a unique Translucent Black colourway, which Android Authority reports will only be available in January or February 2018.
The device measures 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5 mm and weighs 188g.
The most immediate difference is the downgraded display, which drops from a 5.5-inch Quad HD to 5.2 inches at 1080p.
To be entirely fair, there are improvements over the HTC U11 which may leave you feeling this premium is worth paying.
As of now, the company has not clearly announced the global release date of the U11 Life. There's a fingerprint reader doing double duties with the central home button just underneath, flanked by touch-based back and recent-apps buttons. Unlike, other U smartphones, the IP67 dust and water resistance has been upgraded to IP68 that means the smartphone can be submerged under water for 30 minutes up to 1.5 meters. The smartphone eliminates the 3.5mm audio jack from the phone, and earbuds are USB type-c. I personally think that's an overblown idea and this isn't the greatest of moves, but I'm also a smartphone fan who likes to be able to buy the latest and greatest at any given moment. HTC will be selling its own version of the U11 life, unlocked and SIM-free, through its online store from today. At least on paper and first glance, however, the HTC U11 Life might finally have hit the mark this time around. Everywhere else, the U11 Life will run a clean version of Oreo as specified by Google's Android One program. It ships with Android 8.0 Oreo straight out of the box; it's also the first "Android One"-certified smartphone encountered". If something changes on that front, we'll be sure to let you know. HTC U11 Sense, however, runs HTC's UI skin on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. The internal storage of 64GB/128GB that is expandable one so you do not need to worry about running out of space. You can launch it with a quick squeeze, too, since the U11 Life also has HTC's Edge Sense.
For photos, the handset gets 16MP f/2.0 aperture cameras on both the front and back of the handset. It's called the U11 Life and although this handset seems pretty uninteresting on paper, it does have one very interesting trick up its sleeve.
At the reduced price, the U11 Life gets a 16-megapixel camera on the rear, with phase detection autofocus, zero-lag HDR capture, 4K video recording and an f/2.0 aperture.
The bigger frame doesn't translate into much bigger specifications - chiefly because the processor used in the HTC U11 is yet to be bettered. HTC claims you're looking at an additional two hours of video playback, or 20 hours of music playback, but we'll put this to the test in our review.
