Atletico Madrid kept their slim chances of Champions League progress alive as Antoine Griezmann snapped an eight-game goal drought in spectacular fashion with an overhead kick to help see off Roma 2-0 on Wednesday.

It's not just Griezmann's recent scoring woes that have made the headlines, but also a potential transfer to Manchester United.

Herrera is expected to start in Manchester United's next game which comes against Basel in the Champions League.

Griezmann said that people had misunderstood his off-the-cuff answer when asked last week whether he could play in future with PSG stars Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

"It was very even. We've shown we can go toe to toe with anyone and proved we have bags of character".

"I don't regret staying".

Griezmann has dropped the biggest hint yet that he could be on his way to the Premier League and actually name drops United as a destination. Hazard's backheel laid in the Brazilian to add a second nine minutes before halftime. The Italian coach also hinted on rotating his players in the final match of Group C.

"We can't forget who we were playing against, they are a historic team in this competition", said Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco.

Substitute Angel Correa performed miracles to keep the ball in at the byline, his cross hung up for Griezmann to launch himself into an unstoppable flying volley. It has not been the case for Atletico for a few years now, at least not in the group stage but they are the unfancied team once more - and he will be hoping that it brings out the best in them. Griezmann set himself perfectly at the six-yard line and raised his left foot high in the air to drive the ball to the net. Cesc Fabregas converted another penalty, awarded after Gara Garayev had pulled Willian back, to make absolutely sure of the three points with 17 minutes remaining.

The Sun claims the former Real Sociedad is still wanted by the 20-time English champions and has emerged as a top target for United manager Jose Mourinho.

Meanwhile, Roma will qualify if a win over Qarabag or Atletico fails to beat Chelsea to seal a place in the last 16.
