And, finally on design - Google have tweaked the colourways available. If you can look past its annoyances - be it the lack of headphone jack, or dodgy viewing angles - it absolutely is. Older ARM32 devices might simply be unable to display the entire selection of the live wallpapers due to hardware incompatibilities. And so having this extensive battery life is really huge. Apple's 56-millimeter lens, on the other hand, is ideal and cuts down on that warping. Google's new Pixels both ship with OLED displays and a new always-on display. Switching off the ambient display will mean less battery drain, and you can always use the double tap or lift-to-wake features instead. The Pixel Visual Core co-processor will be turned on through a software update along with the public launch of Android 8.1 Oreo and will allow third-party applications to take advantage of the better HDR+ photos. But Google has been keeping a huge secret under wraps: the Pixel 2 has a custom, Google-designed SoC dedicated exclusively to camera image processing. Google even said new uses for Pixel Visual Core will arrive over time, as it is programmable.
The upside to the bezels is they hold a set of stereo speakers that give the handset a much punchier sound than the original Pixel, though headphones are still the best option for audio.
