Replays seemed to show Brown got a second foot down, but the play stood. For the Cardinals, six players on the current roster spent time with the 49ers.

The Arizona Cardinals' band wagon has emptied faster than a Miss Universe dressing room that Donald Trump just walked into waving his baby hands.

Meanwhile on offense, the backfield could suffer some personnel losses, too, depending on how running back Carlos Hyde (hip) and fullback Kyle Juszczyk (concussion) feel come game time.

It was close. A 17-play field goal drive nearly sapped all of the now-10-minute overtime period before the Cardinals could even get the ball. While the box score left more to be desired from both teams, here are three 49ers takeaways from the game. The Cardinals are not so well-rested after playing on Monday night, the Arizona ground attack has been nearly non-existent after losing David Johnson, and the offensive line remains in shambles.

The 49ers head into this game sitting at 0-3, and bringing up the rear in the NFC West. The team travels to Indianapolis next week before going to Washington for an October 15 game.

But those hits took a toll on Palmer.

Of the 1,000 voters surveyed, 68% said they thought Trump's calls to fire players and asking National Football League spectators not boycott games were inappropriate, compared with 27% who backed Trump's position.

In the second quarter, a pass from Palmer to Andre Ellington was initially ruled a touchdown but was overturned upon review, as Ellington was ruled out of bounds.

Fitzgerald's touchdown was the first and only TD of the entire game. Nothing about "Larry Legend's" four-catch, 32-yard performance will sizzle but when the game was on the line, there was nobody better...again. Fitzgerald has caught 17 touchdown passes against the 49ers in his career. The Arizona receivers didn't help matters dropping a handful of catchable passes, particularly in the first half.

For the game, Hoyer was 24-of-49 for 234 yards with an interception and a passer rating of 54.3.

It's one of those plays that if Palmer hit Gresham, it would've been hailed as genius, improvisational, experience shining through.

Hyde had 16 carries for 68 yards and five receptions for 27 yards. Hoyer returned for the next snap.

Special teams: Robbie Gould has yet to miss a field goal this season and has kicked 28 straight dating back to past year, including five on Sunday. He was sacked once on the drive, the sixth one he absorbed in the game, but the passing game actually looked like the one that had been envisioned in training camp.
