Former Deer Park High School  placekicker Zane Gonzalez made his National Football League debut Sunday, scoring four points for the Cleveland Browns in a 21-18 loss to the Steelers.

Pittsburgh's offense struggled all day while the defense was stout for the most part, and its special teams were spectacular.

CHICAGO - Matt Ryan threw an 88-yard touchdown to Austin Hooper and led two fourth-quarter scoring drives as the NFC champions held on.

The 11 victories are one more than Derek Anderson, who played for the Browns from 2005 until 2009.

Not having rookie defensive end Myles Garrett for at least two weeks because of a sprained right ankle is a huge blow to the defense. The Browns drafted tight end Kellen Winslow instead, who played for them for four years and had one season with 1,000 yards.

For all the hype over the Steelers offense the last few years, the unit has always felt a little bit disappointing. "The fact that management was aware of what they planned on doing, that's as offensive as it can get".

Bell, who skipped training camp in a contract dispute, ran tentatively and gained just 32 yards on 10 carries.

"I thought he did a great job", wide receiver Corey Coleman says.

He told Cleveland.com that the protest by Browns players disrespected the sacrifices that people make that allow players to enjoy the success they have. Brown caught 11 passes on 11 targets for 182 yards, although he didn't score. He ran the ball 5 times for 17 yards and scored the team's first touchdown on a QB sneak.

That's also seriously impressive - the Browns were without their big-name top overall pick in 2017 on the field in a game where he might have been a factor.

One solution: Anthony Chickillo got two sacks as Dupree's replacement, and nose tackle Javon Hargrave added a sack to offset the loss of Tuitt. On Sunday against the Browns, we will see these modern Steelers at their full offensive capabilities for essentially the first time.

T.J. Watt sat in front of a bunch of discarded black-and-gold shoulder pads as reporters continued to crowd his spot in the visitor's locker room at First Energy Stadium. Six of Watt's stops were of the solo variety.

"We played well", he said of Pittsburgh's defense, which recorded seven sacks. The Browns had their first punt of the season blocked for a Steelers touchdown, but the Browns didn't waver and responded well.

Pittsburgh needs to fix some things before Week 2. That helped the Panthers get off to a good start in the season opener following last year's disappointing 6-10 finish.

But in 2004, the Browns could've ended the run of futility and saved themselves and their embittered fan base 14 more seasons of misery.
