Philadelphia Eagles at Redskins: Staff predictions

Sean McVay's exit will have more of an impact than many believe this season.

For the third season in a row, the Washington Redskins will field a almost identical roster, with numerous same coaches returning as in the past two years.

Wentz (43 of 68 for 493 yards, one touchdown and one interception in two games against Washington) returns to Landover with several new weapons. It began with sullen lamenting of Kirk Cousins' late-game pick against the Giants at the end of 2016. This is a sore spot for Redskins fans in general.

Worst momentum killer: The Redskins drove to the Eagles' 37-yard line on their next possession before a Fletcher Cox sack-fumble spoiled any chance at points. Washington recovered, thwarting a potential scoring opportunity for the Eagles. There's also a significant amount of movement after the snap, with linebackers looping from multiple gaps over to confuse the protection.

For years, Snyder's star-gazing resulted in neglecting the offensive and defensive lines in the draft.

Jeffery inked a one-year $9.5 million contract with the Eagles, Pryor a one-year $6 million pact with the Skins. The pressure is disguised well. Johnson is the X-factor for the Eagles because he can ensure that Wentz has enough time to throw the ball or make the right decision when needed. Since my job is to pick these things, I can't.

Eagles head coach Doug Pederson game-planned for the Washington Redskins past year with one arm tied behind his back. He will have to bring his A game in that regard on Sunday. After a chaotic offseason, the Redskins will run out of the tunnel Sunday looking similar to the past two years.

The NFC East figures to be a hotly contested division in the National Football League this season so all matchups between the four teams will be of the utmost importance, starting with an opening one between Philadelphia and Washington. He's tough, physical, instinctive, and versatile.

Coach Jay Gruden will take over the play-calling duties, although he's been the architect of the offense the past two seasons anyway.

The injuries to Long and Crowder don't seem like too big a deal, so it's unclear whether the Eagles gain much of an advantage. The 5-foot-8 running back took a short pass from Cousins and then spun and pinballed his way to a 29-yard touchdown with 1:17 to play in the second quarter.

That way, Kelley said he doesn't let the reputation of a player creep into his mind while studying. They also added running back LeGarrette Blount as an upgrade over the oft-injured Ryan Mathews.

"Trent Williams is the best in the game", Graham said of Williams.

In the secondary, Josh Norman is still viewed as the No. 1 corner. Hey, they're no strangers to catching that ball. Still, the offense faltered at key moments of close games. You've just got to play fast and physical against with guys bigger and that size.

"I think it's important to what we do", Blount continued. But all reports from Philadelphia thus far this summer have been positive. And four of those seven games will be played at the other team's stadium. I'm anxious to watch him develop throughout his career.

Maybe the new defensive coordinator, Greg Manusky, can mold the group into a crack unit, but I have my doubts - especially after second-year safety Su'a Cravens's sudden departure to consider retirement. Last year, he went from rookie third stringer to starter. I'm very excited to see rookie Derek Barnett in game action.

The Eagles couldn't maintain momentum because of the first head-scratching play call this season.
