The Reds' impressive start to the season was brought to a sudden halt as they slumped to a 5-0 Premier League defeat after Sadio Mane was sent off at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The Blues were incredible from start to finish and put five past the 10-man Reds to pick up three huge points.

"He has this quality, this commitment without the ball, he's so intelligent".

"Everybody knows it's a bad place to be one man down and we could see this so we tried to drop a little bit deeper, but it makes completely no sense". I am so happy with his performance.

"I think we handled it really well". He will be more lovely after that. There was no intention from Mané because he didn't see but Éderson is hurt.

Guardiola has made it clear that Sergio Aguero can not expect to play every game this season, insisting there will be times when he favours Jesus ahead of the Argentine striker. It was really hard for them to defend us. Hopefully he can come back as soon as possible.

On a more positive note for the City manager, midfielder Ilkay Guendogan is available for selection against Liverpool after an extended layoff with a knee injury. It had been even at 11 v 11.

Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, Law said: "Didn't the result tell us more about Liverpool's defending rather than Manchester City's attacking? You can easily avoid putting your foot in somebody's face so you don't do them damage", said Bravo.

Goalkeeper Mignolet said: "We have to take the first 20 minutes and how we played before the worldwide break and take it into the next game". They are so fast and they have quality.

One common excuse is that a player "isn't in the right frame of mind" upon hearing of interest in their services from a rival club.

We have to continue like it's pre-season, not too long, but in a few sessions we have to give ourselves the tim.

The Sky Blues were largely content to keep the ball with the victory all-but wrapped up, but Benjamin Mendy was eventually rewarded for his marauding runs when he picked out Sane to fire home City's fourth. "We are happy to have him, and we still want to help him in his development". It is a big step for us. Was his "injury" simply a smokescreen to keep him on the sidelines until his future had been resolved?

Guardiola is not short of playmaking options, having deployed David Silva in tandem with De Bruyne in every game so far this term, while close-season arrival Bernardo Silva was an unused substitute against Liverpool.
