Sammy Watkins is headed to the NFC West

According to the letter Elliott received informing him of the suspension, the National Football League believed he used "physical force" three times in a span of five days in a Columbus, Ohio, apartment last July resulting in injuries to Tiffany Thompson's face, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, hips and knees.

It was a recipe for disaster for a young quarterback from whom so much was being expected. With Kayvon Webster earning a starting job outside and Nickell Robey-Coleman in the slot, Gaines was going to have a hard time finding playing time.

The 2017 season will be the Bills' first under first-year general manager Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott. You can't blame a GM for moving a player when his value is high, rather than risk losing him for nothing in free agency. But a new No. 1 WR in town hurts sleepers Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp, who were previously vying for the Rams' top receiving role. While Matthews departure may be viewed by some as a reason to bump Alshon Jeffery's target total up, the Eagles face a murderer's row of No. 1 cornerbacks this season, including Patrick Peterson, Josh Norman (twice) and Richard Sherman.

All four players have been in and out of practice, and it's clear that other injured players, such as receiver Tavon Austin, will not play. When I go out there and play ping pong, whatever I'm doing, I'm not throwing in the towel.

The Los Angeles Rams acquired wide receiver Sammy Watkins and a 2018 sixth round pick from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for defensive back E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second round pick.

Watkins is a 24-year-old former fourth overall pick who brings an element of speed, athletic ability and production the Rams haven't had in years. Matthews was Philadelphia's most productive receiver, averaging 75 catches, 891 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in his first three seasons. However, he's been nicked by injuries throughout his career and only appeared in eight games last season.

Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes suffered a right shoulder injury Thursday night and did not return during the Vikings' 17-10 preseason win against the Bills.

They changed the latter component earlier today by trading for Sammy Watkins. McVay also praised Troy Hill, but Hill will serve a two-game suspension at the start of the season.

One critique here: while the staff obviously couldn't retroactively throw a Rams jersey on Watkins, couldn't they have used a Goff touchdown pass that occurred outdoors?
