The Miami Dolphins agreed to a one-year, $10 million contract with quarterback Jay Cutler on Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The Miami Dolphins had a great showing last season, as they were able to enter the playoffs with a 10-6 win-loss record.

But Cutler said wife Kristin Cavallari pushed him to link up with the Dolphins, telling a media conference: "The last four months I've been in a different mindset, getting ready for the Fox deal". Jay Cutler thrived under Gase in 2015, posting his second best completion percentage and his lowest full-season interception total.

With Ryan Tannehill now out, with the regular season rapidly approaching and with the Dolphins having only Matt Moore with any quarterbacking experience, there was a need to move quickly and decisively. "... I am happy for him".

Cutler will not play in the first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons and Gase has not given a ton of thought to anything beyond Thursday's exhibition game. "It was very simple, very straightforward".

"I mean he [Matt Moore] wants to play, that's why you play this game".

"Maybe I'll follow it more closely", Glennon said.

Gase said it's been tough on him and Tannehill.

"I feel good where he was at the last couple of years".

"I think Adam gave him full reign and comfort to be himself and to be a leader and really step up", he said. The family chose to leave Chicago and permanently move to their Nashville home with their kids Camden, 4, Jaxon, 3, and Saylor, 20 months.

Regardless, most assume Cutler will be the opening-day starter on September 10 when Miami hosts Tampa Bay.

"[Learning Gase's offense] takes a minute", says new Bears and former Dolphins tight end Dion Sims.

"We're going to have to be smart with that".

"We were talking about the other day just all these stages you go through, and we both keep saying we're going out of order", he said. Cutler had his most effective season under Gase in Chicago and has developed a liking for big-bodied receivers.

He joked, "I think she got exhausted of me around the house". "I don't like any quarterbacks but he was one guy that I definitely had a respect for because he took hits and never cried, never complained and just got up and went and played the next play".
