The company announced the new hardware and operating system update at a launch event held today.

This new update upgrades the core system to Android Nougat nearly a year after Google launched it for its Nexus line-up.

After the reports of Redmi Note 4 fire incident hit headline, Xiaomi, taking note of the seriousness of the issue, initiated an internal investigation and found the device did get burnt, but device owner Arjun was actually at fault. There's a new smart assistant that helps you get whatever you need done, a smart app launcher that can quick-launch a relevant app based on the content shown onscreen, and a smart image search feature that lets you find pictures by keyword. The new UI will be known as MIUI 9 and will be based on Android 7 (Nougat). Internally, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The Mi 5X is the latest low-priced, high-power, device from Xiaomi, featuring a 5.5-inch, Full-HD (1080p), 2.5D curved-glass display, octa-core Snapdragon 625 chip, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Xiaomi is definitely going for a mid-ranged smartphone with this one.

The Xiaomi Mi 5X has as its main highlight, a dual camera setup at the rear which is similar in configuration to that of the Mi 6. Sensors on the smartphone include an Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Magnetometer, Infrared, Fingerprint sensor (rear-mounted) and Gyroscope sensor.

Providing juice to the phone will be a 3,000 mAh battery.

Xiaomi mentions that most of the new additions - including the smart assistant, universal image search, and smart app launcher - will be limited to the Chinese version of the ROM for now. All of the aforementioned dates only pertain to the Chinese version of the ROM that's set to be released in Xiaomi's home country, though the global variant of the software presumably won't be far behind and will debut by early fall. This speaker comes with voice assistant developed a Mi lab. Selling for CNY 299 from August, the speaker comes with an array of six microphones and optional add-ons and plug-ins available online.
