A 21-year-old man was arrested in central California for allegedly uploading the Marvel film Deadpool to his Facebook, just days after it was released in February 2016, according to federal prosecutors.
The case against Franklin is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A man is accused of illegally uploading a copy of the popular film to Facebook leading to 5 million people watching the movie for free - just days after the film was released.
Franklin allegedly used the screen name "Tre-Von M. King" to upload the film, which starred Ryan Reynolds.
As reported at the Visalia Times-Delta, Franklin has been charged in a one-count indictment with reproducing and distributing a copyrighted work-a felony that carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison.
