A first-term state lawmaker was found dead in her Topeka hotel room Wednesday night.
Ward says plans to celebrate Terrell's life "will be released at a later time". The cause is not yet known.
Terrell, a Democrat, has represented the 102nd district in the state's House of Representatives since January 9, 2017. Pauls was a conservative Republican who'd switched parties after serving in the Legislature as a Democrat. Patsy cast a bright light in the Kansas House of Representatives and was an unrelenting advocate for the people of District 102 and Hutchinson.
Chris Reeves, an executive member of the KS Democratic Party, wrote in his blog for Daily Kos that Terrell left the Statehouse following Tuesday night's veto override "with a smile on her face, hugged those around and a feeling of accomplishment".
A number of Topeka police cars filled the downtown Ramada parking lot just after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
