Hollywood actress Katherine Heigl made a sartorial statement too, donning a blood orange Lanvin dress and Stuart Weitzman shoes at the bash, where she cheered on her musician husband Josh Kelley.

Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood won big Wednesday during the 2017 CMT Awards, taking home the night's top honors. Looking on in background right is presenter Reba McEntire.

As previously announced, this year's CMT Music Awards would see a number of unexpected collaborations.

For the first time in its history, the CMT Music Awards Red Carpet Special will stream live on Facebook at 7 p.m. The pair then lit up the stage with a powerful performance of "Want to Want Me".

The country star picked up four awards on Wednesday night in Nashville, including video of the year, male video, collaborative video and social superstar of the year.

After collecting his award, Keith said: "I want to say a massive thank you to my wife Nicole".

"She hates me saying this, but I want to say it because she helps me so much make these videos what they are", Urban gushed.

The night's biggest victor, Keith Urban, teamed up with Carrie Underwood to perform their hit song "The Fighter".

Meanwhile, Carrie also thanked her fans after collecting the Female Video of the Year award.

Others paired up for collaborative performances throughout the night.

Jason Aldean and Darius Rucker paid tribute to Gregg Allman, who died in May.

The EDM duo and the country duo sang together on a song called "Last Day Alive", off the Chainsmokers' album "Memories".

The duo started things out slowly and bare-bones, letting their velvety vocals and the song's attractive lyrics take center stage.
