President Donald Trump again took aim at former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey on Sunday morning, suggesting in a tweet that Comey might have secretly released even more information to the public than he has already admitted to doing.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, responding to Trump's statement last week that he would "100%" speak under oath about the Comey affair, said he would like the president to testify in public before the Senate.
'I believe the James Comey leaks will be far more prevalent than anyone ever thought possible.
"Lordy, I hope there are tapes", Comey said.
Trump said there was "no collusion, no obstruction" and that "Comey's a leaker". Flynn was forced out after the Washington Post reported that he had misled Vice President Mike Pence about Flynn's flurry of contacts during the presidential transition with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.
"I am. deeply concerned about the Attorney General's role in firing Director Comey in light of his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation", Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy said in a statement.
Trump also denied asking Comey to pledge his loyalty.
This week, during the highly anticipated Senate Intelligence Committee appearance by Comey, he said the USA president lied on several occasions, and he illustrated Trump's knack for self-sabotage.
His hunch was correct, and the very next day former FBI director Bob Mueller was appointed to be a special counsel overseeing the investigation.
Trump cryptically refused to say whether those private exchanges were taped - a matter at the heart of the conflicting accounts of what passed between them at a time when Comey was leading an FBI investigation into Russia's interference in the presidential election and its ties to the Trump campaign.
Asked directly if tapes of conversations with Comey exist, Trump said, "Well, I'll tell you about that maybe sometime in the very near future". Senate Democrats focused nearly exclusively on obstruction in their questioning of Comey, and their House counterparts are sure to do the same.
The major media - which Trump regards as the mother of all liars - are in bed with his Democratic critics, while dismissing the lies of Democrats past and present.
"Security and defense represent a key component of the U.S".
In contrast, Comey said he and President Barack Obama only spoke twice in three years, and one of those times was to say farewell. The president's private lawyer is planning to file a complaint against Comey with the Senate Judiciary Committee and Department of Justice Office of Inspector General over a memo Comey wrote documenting his interactions with the president.
